Safety Only the pan is heated - the ceramic plate will get hot, but only from residual heat from the pan. Removing the pan or turning off the heat allows the plate to cool quickly.
Speed / Controllability Pans heat very quickly and higher than normal temperatures can be reached. Changing from a fast boil to a gentle simmer happens at the touch of a button. There are 7 selectable temperatures (120°C to 240°C) and also precision control of cooking time.
Efficiency Energy savings compared to conventional hobs can be in the region of 40% to 70%, and it is also space efficient - the induction hob will fit into an area of 34cm x 42cm.
