Le Creuset Cast Iron Cookware Information

Founded in 1925 and with branches all over the world,
Le Creuset is one of the most popular household kitchen names.
Due to this we have provided a page giving you all the
information you need to know about Le Creuset products.

Creating the Pattern: -

A tool is built with 2 pattern plates.  The male pattern plate produces the interior shape, and the female pattern plate produces the exterior plate.

Casting: - The moulding sand is then injected and pressed between these plates to produce a  sand mould.  When the 2 sand moulds are secured together, they form a mould of the particular piece of cookware.
Pouring: - Molten cast iron is automatically poured into this sand mould, after which the mould is destroyed.
Stripping: - Once cooled, the piece is removed from the sand mould.
Shot Blasting: - The stripped raw piece is then blasted with small metal pellets to remove the sand.
Fettling: - Any burrs and rough edges are removed.
Grit Blasting: - Small steel filings blast the piece to give the piece a roughness with no impurities, ready for adhesion of enamel.
Inspection/ Ground Coat: - The piece is then inspected for any roughness, and then sprayed with the ground coat enamel.
Colour: - The colour is sprayed on and then dried and fired.
