This mortar and pestle is made from hand-turned olive wood from Tunisia. Finished with foodsafe lacquer (which meets EC standards - compatible to BS), pumiced and oiled. This gives protection to the wood and a tasteful matt surface. The lacquered hardwood gives excellent resistance to liquids and has a natural affinity to salad oils.
