The 3-ply Stainless Steel Mediterranean Casserole is a truly versatile pan and is ideal for many different recipes and cooking styles. Its beautiful design means the pan can be taken straight from the kitchen to the table with style. The wide base allows plenty of room to cook ingredients in one layer which?ensures even heating and browning. The uncoated stainless steel interior is ideal for searing meat, fish and vegetables allowing them to caramelise adding delicious flavour to the finished recipe. It is also perfect for making tasty risottos, paella or pilaff. The Shallow Casserole can be used without the lid as a frying or saute pan on the hob or as a roasting/baking pan in the oven. It has a capacity of 4.8 Litres. Suitable for use on all types of hob, including Induction, and under the grill, the Shallow Casserole is also oven-safe to 220°c/Gas Mark 7 and is dishwasher safe. For extra peace of mind, it is covered by a Lifetime Guarantee.

All products within the Le Creuset 3-ply range use high grade stainless steel with a dash of aluminium as the main ingredients. The technically advanced 3-ply metal sandwich uses an aluminium core to spread the heat evenly, so there are no hotspots. The entire rim of each pan is a cleverly designed lip that lets you pour from any angle without messy drips and the saucepans and casseroles include capasity markings on the interior. Le Creuset 3-Ply is equally at home on gas or electric hobs and has been designed to work brilliantly on induction hobs too. The first Le Creuset Casserole (or Cocotte) was produced in 1925 when two Belgian industrialists, Armand Desaegher (a casting specialist) and Octave Aubecq (an enamelling specialist), met at the Brussels Fair and decided to create a foundry which would enamel various cookware items. They set up shop in Fresnoy-le-Grand in Aisne, France which was the crossroads for the raw materials of coke, iron and sand. In 1999 Le Creuset introduced the installation of a new electric furnace and 2003 brought a new moulding chain, increasing the foundry capacity.

Today, Le Creuset is globally recognised as a leading manufacturer of the highest quality cookware. Throughout the years product innovation reflected the strong international presence of Le Creuset, adapting to cooking trends from all over the world. They created items such as the Spanish Pueblo range in sun baked colours in 1995, French Tarte Tatin Dish in 2000, Indian Karahi & Balti dishes, Japanese Sukiyaki Casserole (or Cocotte) in 2002 and Italian Risotto Pots in 2004.
