Only the pan is heated - the ceramic plate will get hot, but only from residual heat from the pan. Removing the pan or turning off the heat allows the plate to cool quickly.
Pans heat very quickly and higher than normal temperatures can be reached. Changing from a fast boil to a gentle simmer happens at the touch of a button. There are 7 selectable temperatures (120°C to 240°C) and also precision control of cooking time.
Energy savings compared to conventional hobs can be in the region of 40% to 70%, and it is also space efficient - the induction hob will fit into an area of 34cm x 42cm.
About Induction Hobs
Only pans that can be magnetised can be used on an induction hob - if a pan base will hold a fridge magnet it is suitable for use on an induction hob. We stock a range of pans that are suitable - please see our Pan Guide for a list of these.
